Nach mehr als 1.200 Elopements in New York City haben wir wirklich schon fast alles erlebt: strömenden Regen, Wind wie im Hurricane, Schuhe, die den Füßen den Krieg erklären, vergessene Taschentücher, kalte Hände, heiße U-Bahn-Stationen und mindestens einen Brautstrauß, der versucht hat, in den New Yorker Verkehr zu flüchten.
Deshalb haben wir eine einfache Liste mit kleinen, hilfreichen Begleitern zusammengestellt, die den Hochzeitstag in New York ein bisschen entspannter machen können.
Ihr braucht natürlich nicht alles davon. Aber je nach Jahreszeit, Location, Schuhen und Tagesplan können ein paar dieser Kleinigkeiten einen echten Unterschied machen.

DAS „OH S**T“ NOTFALLSET
Das ist das kleine Set für die kleinen Katastrophen. Nicht die dramatischen Katastrophen. Einfach ganz normale Hochzeitstags-Dinge: ein loser Knopf, verschmierter Lippenstift, Schuhe, die plötzlich zur persönlichen Bedrohung werden, ein mysteriöser Fleck, aggressiver Wind, Kopfschmerzen, Freudentränen oder eine einzelne Haarsträhne, die sich für Chaos entschieden hat.
DAS „RAINY DAY“ NEW YORK Hochzeits-KIT
Regen in New York muss euer Elopement nicht ruinieren. Ganz ehrlich: Auf Fotos kann Regen sogar unglaublich romantisch aussehen. In dieser Liste findet ihr durchsichtige Regenschirme, kleine Haarretter, Handwärmer und ein paar praktische Kleinigkeiten, die einen verregneten Hochzeitstag deutlich weniger chaotisch machen.

New York ist keine Stadt, in der man einfach nur an einem Ort steht und hübsch aussieht. Selbst an einem entspannten Elopement-Tag lauft ihr vielleicht durch Parks, U-Bahn-Stationen, über Kopfsteinpflaster, Brücken, Bürgersteige und durch eine mysteriöse Pfütze, über die niemand sprechen möchte.

DAS „Zeremonie, RINGE & FREUDENTRÄNEN“ KIT
Für eine kleine Hochzeit in NYC braucht ihr nicht viel. Aber ein paar kleine Details können die Zeremonie persönlicher machen und sehen auf Fotos wunderschön aus. Denkt an Eheversprechen-Bücher, Ringe, Taschentücher, einen schönen Stift und die kleinen Dinge, die diesen Moment wirklich nach euch anfühlen lassen.

Euer Handy ist Stadtplan, Uber, Familien-Chat, Tagesablauf, Notfallkontaktliste und manchmal sogar der Ort, an dem eure Eheversprechen gespeichert sind. Dass der Akku durchhält, ist also nicht ganz unwichtig.

Today, exactly 20 years ago, I married my best friend. And I had no idea what the next 20 years would bring.
I love Jackie more today than ever. Which says a lot, because I already liked her quite a bit before. She is my best friend, my business partner, my favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, and somehow the only human alive who can handle my grumpy moods. No really, that alone should win her an award or something.
When we met, I was still an architect and Jackie was a musical theater actor. Neither of us could have imagined that 20 years later we would be running our own wedding business together, celebrating love for a living, and helping over 1,200 couples create their own love stories.
We literally spend all our time together. Business, travel, life...and I still wake up every day wanting more of it. That is either true love or early signs of insanity. Probably both.
And to think it all started when I walked down the stairs at Bethesda Terrace and saw her sitting by the fountain…in those ugly pink pants. (Yes, they were that bad. Whole nother story. Ask me about it sometime.)
Twenty years later, we have built this wild, beautiful, unpredictable life together. There have been plot twists, bad haircuts, flight delays, lost luggage, and a whole lot of laughter. And I would not trade a single second of it.
Here is to the next 20 years of chaos, love, and whatever else we get ourselves into. ❤️

Sarah and Felix flew in from Germany, eloped in Central Park, and timed it perfectly with peak cherry blossoms. We started at the Ladies Pavilion with Jackie doing her thing, then wandered through the park like it was all theirs. Bethesda Terrace gave us drama, flowers gave us softness, and New York did what New York does best. Pure elopement gold.

From LIC to the Connecticut coast. We go way back with Artemis from our former life in Long Island City, so it meant the world when she asked us to be part of her and Mike’s commitment ceremony. Their celebration took us out of New York and onto a beautiful beach in Connecticut. Just the right place for a day filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of joy. 🥰
