What To Pack For Your NYC Elopement
After more than 1,200 elopements in New York City, we have seen just about everything: surprise rain, surprise wind, new shoes declaring war, forgotten tissues, cold hands, hot subway platforms, and at least one bouquet trying to escape into traffic.
So we put together a simple list of helpful items couples are often glad they brought with them.
You do not need all of this. Please do not arrive with a survival backpack like you are hiking the Appalachian Trail in wedding clothes. But depending on your season, locations, shoes, and plans for the day, a few of these small things can make your NYC elopement feel a lot easier.

The "Oh S**T" Emergency Kit
This is the tiny kit for the tiny disasters. Not dramatic disasters. Just normal wedding day stuff: a loose button, lipstick smudge, shoe betrayal, mystery stain, aggressive wind, headache, happy tears, or one piece of hair choosing violence.

Your phone is your map, Uber, family group chat, timeline, emergency contact list, and sometimes your vow storage system. Keeping it charged is not optional. This list includes power banks, chargers, and a few helpful travel items for moving around the city without your phone giving up at the worst possible moment.
The “We Love New York” Kit
A few fun New York favorites for couples who want to bring a little bit of the city home with them. Think NYC mugs, totes, hats, books, puzzles, and small reminders of the place where you got married.
The “Wedding Photography Gear We Use” Kit
For the photographers, gear nerds, and curious humans who ask what we use on wedding days. This list includes some of the cameras, lenses, audio tools, memory cards, and accessories connected to how we photograph and document elopements in New York City.
You do not need to buy everything on this list. Most couples only need a few items based on their season, locations, outfits, and comfort level.
But after years of walking through New York with couples on one of the biggest days of their lives, we can confidently say this: the tiny practical things matter.

For local cool cats Dede and Rachel, their day was a love letter to the LES!
We started with some intimate portraits in their own stomping grounds, capturing the vibrant spirit of the Lower East Side neighborhood they call home. Then, we headed to Convive Wine Shop, their absolute favorite local wine bar, to meet their family and friends. After they shared their vows surrounded by rows of beautiful vintages, they ended the ceremony with a kiss and a champagne toast.
Honestly, the emotion was palpable; Rachel was teary and bouncing with joy through the whole ceremony because she just could not wait to be married to her best friend. Dede even surprised Rachel with a brand new wedding ring right in the middle of the ceremony, which was such an incredibly special moment to witness!

From Germany to the heart of New York City! ✈️🗽 We had the absolute best time bringing Danica and Philip’s dream destination elopement to life.
Their day was the perfect NYC love story! We started with an intimate ceremony at Central Park’s Hernshead Rock. Surrounded by their favorite people, they popped champagne by the water while Jackie officiated their “I dos” and Sascha captured every joyful tear.

And around 631 million seconds of putting up with each other.
Today, exactly 20 years ago, I married my best friend. And I had no idea what the next 20 years would bring.
I love Jackie more today than ever. Which says a lot, because I already liked her quite a bit before. She is my best friend, my business partner, my favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, and somehow the only human alive who can handle my grumpy moods. No really, that alone should win her an award or something.
When we met, I was still an architect and Jackie was a musical theater actor. Neither of us could have imagined that 20 years later we would be running our own wedding business together, celebrating love for a living, and helping over 1,200 couples create their own love stories.
We literally spend all our time together. Business, travel, life...and I still wake up every day wanting more of it. That is either true love or early signs of insanity. Probably both.
And to think it all started when I walked down the stairs at Bethesda Terrace and saw her sitting by the fountain…in those ugly pink pants. (Yes, they were that bad. Whole nother story. Ask me about it sometime.)
Twenty years later, we have built this wild, beautiful, unpredictable life together. There have been plot twists, bad haircuts, flight delays, lost luggage, and a whole lot of laughter. And I would not trade a single second of it.
Here is to the next 20 years of chaos, love, and whatever else we get ourselves into. ❤️

Sarah and Felix flew in from Germany, eloped in Central Park, and timed it perfectly with peak cherry blossoms. We started at the Ladies Pavilion with Jackie doing her thing, then wandered through the park like it was all theirs. Bethesda Terrace gave us drama, flowers gave us softness, and New York did what New York does best. Pure elopement gold.

From LIC to the Connecticut coast. We go way back with Artemis from our former life in Long Island City, so it meant the world when she asked us to be part of her and Mike’s commitment ceremony. Their celebration took us out of New York and onto a beautiful beach in Connecticut. Just the right place for a day filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of joy. 🥰
