Once, when we were dating, Jackie asked me how much I loved her. From my heart I answered, “to the moon and back.” Little by little, as our relationship deepened, the answer would change. “I love you three times to the moon and back”, I would say. “I love you four times to the moon and back!” The numbers just kept on going up.
In a few months, Jackie wanted to know how much I would need to love her to marry her. A pretty cool question. Without thinking I answered: “85 times to the moon & back.”
From that moment on when she asked me how much I loved her, the number would increase by leaps and bounds: “I love you 12 times to the moon and back!”, “I love you 23 times to the moon and back!”, “38!”, “44!”, “70 times to the moon and back!” 85 was coming at us fast!
Fast forward to August 2004, I flew out to visit Jackie in Los Angeles, where she was working for a couple of weeks. After a lovely day together, we ate dinner at a quirky restaurant on the beach in Malibu. We decided to take a stroll along the water and ended up on a blanket watching the sun set over the ocean. As Jackie kept her eyes on the sky, I snuck out a small glass bottle with a message I’d written inside and hid it in the wet sand. With a little help from me, she stumbled across the bottle moments later. “Look, honey!” I said innocently, “It’s a message in a bottle!” Curious, Jackie picked the bottle up, uncorked it, and pulled out the scroll. As she read the message tears sprung to her eyes. It said:
By the time she looked up, I was on my knee holding the ring. I asked her to marry me. Jackie fell in to my arms and said yes. We were married on November 3rd, 2006.
To this day, I still tell my wife I love her 85 times to the moon and back. And now I get to tell our little daughter Lucy that I love her 85 times to the moon & back as well.

Today, exactly 20 years ago, I married my best friend. And I had no idea what the next 20 years would bring.
I love Jackie more today than ever. Which says a lot, because I already liked her quite a bit before. She is my best friend, my business partner, my favorite person to do absolutely nothing with, and somehow the only human alive who can handle my grumpy moods. No really, that alone should win her an award or something.
When we met, I was still an architect and Jackie was a musical theater actor. Neither of us could have imagined that 20 years later we would be running our own wedding business together, celebrating love for a living, and helping over 1,200 couples create their own love stories.
We literally spend all our time together. Business, travel, life...and I still wake up every day wanting more of it. That is either true love or early signs of insanity. Probably both.
And to think it all started when I walked down the stairs at Bethesda Terrace and saw her sitting by the fountain…in those ugly pink pants. (Yes, they were that bad. Whole nother story. Ask me about it sometime.)
Twenty years later, we have built this wild, beautiful, unpredictable life together. There have been plot twists, bad haircuts, flight delays, lost luggage, and a whole lot of laughter. And I would not trade a single second of it.
Here is to the next 20 years of chaos, love, and whatever else we get ourselves into. ❤️

Sarah and Felix flew in from Germany, eloped in Central Park, and timed it perfectly with peak cherry blossoms. We started at the Ladies Pavilion with Jackie doing her thing, then wandered through the park like it was all theirs. Bethesda Terrace gave us drama, flowers gave us softness, and New York did what New York does best. Pure elopement gold.

From LIC to the Connecticut coast. We go way back with Artemis from our former life in Long Island City, so it meant the world when she asked us to be part of her and Mike’s commitment ceremony. Their celebration took us out of New York and onto a beautiful beach in Connecticut. Just the right place for a day filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of joy. 🥰
